Assistant Professor in structural mechanics, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, Italy. His research interests span theoretical, numerical and experimental mechanics, with a specific focus on elastic wave control for the creation of filters, sensors, and energy harvesters. He had a key role in creating the basis for the H2020 FETproactive Metamaterial Enabled Vibration Energy Harvesting (MetaVEH) project, during a six-month period as invited visitor at Imperial College London and centre for Plasmonic and Metamaterials. He is author and co-author of over 20 research articles, one international book, one book chapter and one patent.
Research activity spans theoretical, numerical and experimental mechanics with a specific focus on elastic wave propagation. Main scientific contributions involve graded metamaterials for elastic energy confinement, topological metamaterials, mode conversion of elastic waves for applications of technological relevance such as information transport, nondestructive evaluation and energy harvesting.
